If you like solitude and privacy, then this peninsula is perfect for you! Here tourists are surrounded by unspoilt nature: coconut groves, crystal-clear rivers and waterfalls, caves and deserted beaches, dolphins and humpback whales. A trip to the nearby island of Cayo Levantado will give you the opportunity to enjoy
snorkeling and diving.
The main attraction of the Peninsula is
the El limón waterfall. Its height reaches 40 meters! The path to the waterfall will bring additional pleasure: you will ride horses through the jungle, admiring the stunning scenery. After the road you will swim under falling streams of water.
Samana is famous for its excellent
coffee and cocoa. And no wonder, because this is the birthplace of coffee trees! At one of the local ranches, tourists will be treated to these delicious drinks.
The Peninsula is full of interesting places. For example, there are 6 national parks on Samana:
- VIA Panoramica Carr. Nagua-Samana
- Manglares Del Bajo Yuna
- Monumento National Salto del Limon
- Cabo Cabron
- Monumento Natural Cabo Samana
- Los Haitises
The latter is particularly interesting. Only here guests of the island can see an unimaginable number of tropical plants and animals, walk through the dense jungle. Also in Los Haitises you can
ride on the river by boat, get acquainted with manatees, see rock paintings in caves — they were left by the first inhabitants of the island, the Taino Indians.
To see a
humpback whale jumping out of the water with your own eyes, come to Samana in January-March. These North Atlantic giants swim to the warm waters of the Dominican Republic for breeding.
